Jodorowsky's DUNE

The most epic film never made
While they've started posting promo materials from the upcoming another new attempt to make the screen version of a legendary 1965 science fiction novel by American author Frank Herbert "Dune", this time by Denis Villeneuve, a well-established film director who gave us Arrival (2016) and Sicario (2015), I think it's high time to start doing the homework before the upcoming release of this new "Dune" at the end of this year.

If Alejandro Jodorowsky had made "Dune" back in the mid-1970s, it would have become the most epic film ever made, since Jodorowsky assembled some of the best and most talented people around him to create the incredible futuristic world of Dune - artists H.R. Giger, Chris Foss Artist Page and Jean Giraud "Moebius" for set and character design; Dan O'Bannon for special effects; Salvador Dalí, Orson Welles, Gloria Swanson, David Carradine, Mick Jagger, Udo Kier, Amanda Lear - among the cast; and with soundtrack from Pink Floyd!

All what Jodorowsky wanted is to tell the story within the time needed, enough time, but nobody wanted to give it to him. Nobody believed that people would wait for other parts to come out... Could you imagine watching Star Wars, The Godfather, Back to the Future Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, etc. fit in only one 2 hours film?!

So, that's what we are looking forward to later this year - a squeezed version of Dune which back in 1984 became a huge failure when another producer wanted to do exactly the same with the help of David Lynch, who also at the very beginning saw the film with a few hours run time, but nobody listened to him, but it's another story... Now enjoy the magnificent world of Dune never made!
