A place where ideas grow into films...

WELCOME TO MY KINOROOM!

Every idea needs a place to happen, it also needs a place to be materialized in this or that form, and in our case in some form of creative art. It's still a disputable question whether cinema is in fact an art itself, but it's definitely a combination of different arts, and therefore, different ideas behind them which a film consists of.

The trick is that you never know when an idea comes to you: will you be reading a specific book about filmmaking or a random article on a newsfeed; will you be watching a film from a must list or an absolutely unrelated video on youtube; will you be listening to great composers or just hearing a sound; will you be travelling and observing the world or sitting at home; will you be awake or asleep?

Nobody knows. However, when it happens, then you need a place where your idea travels from your mind into this or that form of art. An artist needs a place with an easel, a musician needs a place to play musical instrument, a writer
needs at least a desk or a corner to sit and write. So, what does a filmmaker need? I could get away with a typical answer "it's very personal and individual, everyone is different" and it will be true, but still it would be helpful and efficient to have a quiet place where you could have some time for yourself and your idea to grow…

I decided to call such a place "MY KINOROOM" (kino (from Greek κινημα, κινηματος — movement) — means first part of compound words, connected with cinematography, also the Russian spelling of cine for cinema). In some way it's a virtual representation of what it could be in reality but not exactly the same. The most important is to collect and connect filmmaking information in one place so that it creates a greater possibility for your film projects to happen!

So, please, walk around, find a comfy spot, read something from my SHELF or BLOG, watch something in KINO section, STUDY filmmaking process, add new destinations to your TRAVEL wish list and even find and meet your film CREW! Also there are some hidden gems ✪ all over MY KINOROOM, so look for them! However, what's most important, get some room in your head to think and get inspired for your future film projects with their unique style and language!

Some projects from my filmography:

DOLMEN
In Development, Russia
Feature, Drama, Mystery
Dir. Oksana Belousova

A man is about to find out who and what for built mysterious megalithic dolmens centuries ago...

This is my debut feature that is growing from the short film, however, this time it explores other sides of dolmens, based on the researches made by archaeologists, historians, physicists, esoterics, etc, that I've had an opportunity to consult with. But of course, we're preserving the mysterious component and atmosphere of the original short story.

A man. A woman. A dolmen. A strange triangle. A mysterious one since even now nobody really knows what dolmen is and what it is used for. And as a rule, a triangle cannot last long, at some point somebody has to leave. Who or what will it be?

This film is a diploma project at Mikhalkov Academy after 1 year program in Film Direction. The film was selected to a number of international film festivals and won some awards. Also, we were invited to take part in International Conference (Eugene, Oregon, USA) organised by the Archaeology Channel to show our film and talk about the unique dolmens of Adygheya and the problem of their preservation.
