KINOCLUB

A place where we watch films between the frames!

Since film is considered to be The Seventh Art according to an early Italian film theoretician Ricciotto Canudo, there are some specific criteria applied to understand and evaluate this form of art as others - architecture, painting, poetry, etc.

However, with film it could be more challenging because on the one hand, film is in fact a combination of other art forms such as literature, painting, theatre, music, etc., and on the other, film is the result of collaboration of a number of people involved - producers, film directors, scriptwriters, cinematographers, production designers, actors, music composers, editors, etc. - who are constantly creating a variety of choices and making them as well.
In our KINOCLUB we'll look at a film discussed from all these art forms involved, from different departments participated, from technical and artistic points of view considered, from film's idea to its distribution, we'll also take a look behind the scenes and only after such a complex approach a film's well-grounded review, but I'd rather call it - "film appreciation", will be produced. Since filmmaking is a very challenging process, sometimes overwhelming and exhausting, but still achievable due to film's crew efforts and spirit which should be appreciated. Filmmaking is a team sport, don't forget it!

So, if you want to learn how to appreciate films, how to see all these invisible elements and have a deeper feeling and understanding of The Seventh Art, which can help you to develop as a film professional or an amateur, please, join our KINOCLUB - it's absolutely free! Our online meetings are held once every two weeks.

"For me watching a film has always been more than just an actual 'watching'. I've been always interested in additional information about cast and crew, behind the scenes videos, interviews, etc. The more I dived into the professional direction of filmmaking process, the wider I started to percept all the film layers. And at this very point majority of the films became quite 'standard and predictable' for me, whereas, others clearly stood out and I could finally understand why. Of course, any form of art is quite challenging to appriciate, however, we do have some criteria that could help us, and that's what we do in our KINOCLUB - trying to apply these criteria, be objective and look at the film discussed from different angles."
